Xilu Xiaoxie Inn

Ms. Mandy made a big difference to our stay at Xilu Xiaoxie Inn. She contacted us before arrival to arrange a transfer from the train station, met us at the Old town South Gate, helped with our bags, and walked us to the inn. Her warmth and hospitality made us feel at home right away. She also helped us plan our trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge, sharing useful local advice that suited our budget and travel style. The inn is in Lijiang Old City, so the cobblestone lanes, historic buildings, shops, and places to eat are all an easy walk away. It was a great way to get into the local culture. The rooms combine traditional local touches with modern comforts, and the decor and furnishings make them feel both classy and cosy. For a luxurious, five-star feel, we found the nightly rate reasonable. We had an amazing time here, and it ranks among the best places we've stayed while travelling.

This was our first visit to Lijiang Old Town in Yunnan province, China, and we already hope to return. Ms. Xilu (Cici) and her experienced team welcomed us warmly as soon as we reached the old city. Mr Wang was waiting at the south entrance to guide us in, and Ms. Cici surprised us with upgraded rooms. 😍 The walk to the Inn was a bit of a distance, but we enjoyed taking in the old town scenery and spotting little gems and photo-worthy places along the way. Mr Wang arranged a porter for our luggage. We also looked out for nearby halal restaurants and enjoyed some delicious meals. 🎋🐉🏚️ We were struck by the beauty and structure of the Inn and its surroundings when we arrived. We also got to meet HotDog, the resident husky, a handsome and obedient boy. 🐾 During our 3-night stay, Mr Wang and his colleague Mr Ziqiang were helpful in all sorts of ways. They arranged day tours to the places we wanted to see, including Blue Moon Lake, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and beautiful Shangri-la city. Ms. Cici was also a trusted host when we were in Xi’an. She contacted her sister Ms Mandy to arrange all our day tours there, which was such a kind gesture from both of them. If you're planning to visit Xi’an and Lijiang and want a safe, cosy stay, I'd definitely get in touch with Ms. Cici. She can arrange a great room at Xilu Inn, which she owns two Inns inside the Old Town, as well as the tours they highly recommend. Thank you, Ms Cici and team, for looking after us. The room at Xilu Xiaoxie Inn Saterday house was just right, with new facilities and everything very clean. I really recommend it. We booked a shared taxi through the hotel from our Lijiang hotel to our Dali hotel. It was a regular sedan for four passengers, which wasn't comfortable for a 3-4 hour ride. Still, both the hotel and taxi service can help you get to your destination. We also booked a one-day Jade dragon snow moutain trip through the hotel. The guide spoke only china, and clearer directions for going up the mountain would have helped, since the queues and transport were the hardest parts for travellers to manage. The guide didn't support us, but we could communicate through a translater or Wechat group, where other assistants could help in an emergency.

We came for two days in July to see Lijang and the area around it, and were very happy with the modern accommodations and peaceful setting. It's a quaint, clean inn with the feel of an ancient town and all the amenities you'd want. They use a trolley to take your luggage from the main gate, then bring it back to the entrance when you leave. The staff were friendly and highly professional, and made us feel at home. Everyone spoke excellent English and helped us plan our trip to the Leaping Tiger Gorge and arrange a transfer. If you want an authentic stay in Lijiang, Xilu inn is a good choice. Dog lovers might also enjoy meeting Zai Zai, the owner's dog.
