This was a really unhappy stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family. The room toilet wasn’t maintained well, and when I tried to share feedback, the manager walked away. The staff were so unfriendly that even asking a question seemed to bother them. I’ve had better service from Haidilao hotpot staff. Getting help with the bags was another problem. After check-in, there was no concierge, or perhaps too few staff, to take our luggage to the room. They did have time for local tour groups, though, and it felt like foreigners were being overlooked. There was no signal in the room, so roaming and eSIMs were useless. The Wi-Fi couldn’t even handle a Weixin payment. I don’t know what the managers were doing, but it seemed like they were just giving orders without checking that things were working. Breakfast was the worst I’ve had. There was a lot of choice, but it was all tasteless. The noodles had gone hard, maybe from sitting too long in a warmer, and had no meat. There was bee hoon with bean sprouts, and a big hotel had only six cooked dishes. The vegetables had no meat either, and there wasn’t even a simple chicken nugget, fish, or chicken dish. The Shao bing came with fried dough. Even the noodle soup had no meat. The chicken or fish porridge had maybe one or two small slices in a big bowl, with hardly any meat in the whole pot. It made me wonder if someone was cutting the food budget. There was also a counter for exchanging tickets for Ocean Park, but when we got there they told us to scan a QR code ourselves and fill it out one person per room. I thought the counter was supposed to help. I ended up spending an hour filling everything in at the park entrance.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a king bed, and we’d asked for a crib and bed rails before arrival. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of choices, and dinner had all-you-can-eat hotpot with clean, nicely presented ingredients. The gym was good too, with plenty of machines and free weights for keeping up a workout on vacation. It’s close to the amusement park, which worked really well for our family with young kids. There were also lots of activities to sign them up for during the day. We had a great stay and I’d recommend it to families with little ones.

There’s really nothing around this hotel except an amusement park. No restaurants, shopping mall, or bus stop, and it’s in a very rural spot. I spent three days here, going to the park one day and the pool on the other two. Don’t stay here if you’re hoping to explore Sanya or Hainan. Food and drinks at the hotel are priced ridiculously high. A tiny personal pack of Haggen Dasz ice cream was 68 RMB, and entrees at the restaurant ran 70-120 RMB. The quality was okay, but those prices were absurd. Breakfast was free for globalist guests, and I liked the variety. The club lounge has been turned into a great kids’ area with scheduled activities every day. Some are free, while others cost around 70 RMB. My room was great, and as a globalist I got upgraded to a suite at check-in. The bed, amenities, and service were all pretty good. I was here in mid June, during a low season with heat and frequent rain. I also stayed at Grand Hyatt Sanya Haitang Bay and enjoyed that one a lot more.

The hotel was really nice for my golf trip, but there isn’t a golf course nearby. Getting to the city or a course takes at least an hour, which is a drawback. I’d recommend it to families looking to relax at the hotel and enjoy the theme parks.

There’s a swimming pool and gym here, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy. A good fit for all kinds of people wanting a relaxing vacation.
