The little town looks lovely, surrounded by snowy mountains with a mix of white and green.

The town has a rugged Tibetan character, though it lacks some of the delicate charm of other ancient towns in China. Barbecue makes up much of the local food. I visited during the Qingming Festival to see Hailuogou and stayed in Moxi Ancient Town. Legend says Chairman Mao Zedong stayed at a Catholic church here during the Long March and held the famous Moxi Conference.
