DongFengYun Hotel Mi'Le-MGallery Collection

Mile is a real hidden gem in Yunnan, and this artistic hotel is a must for a stay here. It feels luxurious and beautiful, with views over the landmarks.

The grounds have some lovely architecture and construction, and the hotel itself is beautiful, with a tasteful design. There are plenty of things to do, from the art gallery and vineyard to tai chi, plus hiking paths to discover. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Great hotel, in a local tourist area.

We only had a short stay, which was a shame, because there was so much to enjoy. The hotel pool looks out over the main scenic area, with a huge waterfall beside it, and there are lots of activities for kids. The rooms were beautifully equipped: our layout had a separate toilet, bathtub, and two showers in three rooms. The bedding was comfortable, the lighting was practical and varied, and the outdoor courtyard with sofas, chairs, and a private aromatherapy hot spring is hard to forget. The food was a highlight too. Breakfast had plenty of choice, especially the freshly made rice noodles, and both breakfast and lunch were excellent. The Chinese restaurant serves tasty local specialties, and its unusual brick walls stand out. We also loved the locally sourced red wine and grape juice. Every guest building has its own courtyard. Ours was a lovely cactus filled tropical garden against the red brick, which reminded us of the Spanish Mediterranean islands. The architecture and landscaping at Dongfengyun Scenic Area are stunning, and the beauty kept taking us by surprise in person, even after seeing photos beforehand. The room details were carefully done and worth taking time to appreciate. This is the most beautiful hotel we've stayed at in China, and its design far exceeded what we expected. A big thank you to Manager Yang and the General Manager for their warm help. We were upgraded to two rooms with hot springs, and also received fruit platters and photography services at no charge. Everyone greeted us with a smile and offered professional help, so we felt at home. We'll definitely come back and recommend the hotel to our friends. Thank you for a wonderful trip.

I especially liked photographing the main sights in the morning and evening, when there were fewer tourists. The Red Wine Castle is a popular spot for pictures, and the Art Museum, made from local red floor bricks, is another notable place in this art focused scenic area. Dongfengyun is a huge and picturesque place, with striking red brick buildings, and a real gem in Maitreya, Yunnan. There is a lot of ground to cover, so exploring takes stamina. When it isn't raining, the climate makes it pleasant, though the midday sun and crowds can make it less enjoyable. The weather wasn't very kind during my visit, but I still saw the main sights. There are plenty of chances for beautiful photos, and I'll come back when the weather is better. Definitely worth visiting.
