There are decent hotels and restaurants, and the snow is a real draw if you like trekking in icy conditions. This is China’s northernmost point, right by the Russian border, so be ready for extreme cold. Temperatures can drop to -40. Enjoy the snow!

We visited Beiji Village (Beiji Village) on June 23 and mailed postcards home from the famous Northernmost Post Office, where each of us got one as a keepsake. There was also a sweet little place celebrating romance and everlasting love, followed by an easy stroll through the park and its quiet northern scenery. Beiji Village sits on the Amur River across from Russia and is known as China’s northernmost village. Mohe (Mohe), in Heilongjiang Province at China’s northern tip, is often called the “Arctic Village.” It felt special to be right at the edge of the country.

The canteen meal was just average, nothing special. I went in summer and didn’t enjoy it much because midday was too hot. By evening it was pleasant to walk around. I imagine the winter scenery is nice.

We only got a glimpse of the Russian village and couldn’t take any pictures there. The horse sleigh ride felt unsafe, with us squeezed in and bumped around. The driver was rude and kept hurrying us while we tried to take photos. We stopped at just three photo spots, and the driver didn’t explain anything. It wasn’t an enjoyable trip.

A pleasant park stretches along the Heilongjiang River, which forms the border between China and Russia. This is China’s northernmost town, near Mohe city.
