Nanchang Wanda Realm Hotel

The staff were friendly and professional, and I liked the buffet breakfast. It was my first stay at Wanda Realm Nanchang. The hotel is very close to Wanda Plaza and the subway, which made getting around convenient. My room was clean and quiet.

The service was the standout for me. Mr Wei (Xiao Wei), the lobby manager, was meticulous, patient, and incredibly helpful. He gave us good advice on the issues we ran into as foreign tourists, including using China apps, shared his personal wechat, and followed up even on his day off. I’ve never seen that kind of dedication from staff at a 5 star hotel for non-vip guests. The front desk, housekeeping, and executive lounge were also excellent. Thanks to Ms Guan Chunlan for the housekeeping, and the two women working in the lounge from 12-15 Nov made great coffee and patiently answered questions about food ingredients, which mattered because my wife doesn’t eat meat. We stayed at Wanda realm in Honggutan, Nanchang from 10-15 November and had a mostly wonderful time. The location was superb, a short walk from the huge Wanda plaza and Jin Street foodstreet, with a great range of local food at reasonable prices. The rooms were very comfortable, though the facilities were a bit aged but still good. Breakfast was amazing, with a broad choice of western, chinese, and nanchang local dishes. The problem was the hotel’s lax non-smoking policy. I came across cigarette smoke in the lifts, corridors, and even the toilet in one of the executive rooms I moved into. I understand there are lots of local clients at this local 5 star hotel chain, but management should address this if it wants to attract more foreign tourists and meet international 5 stars standards. Our group had a nice dinner at the hotel during our one-night stay. The room was quite large, clean, and nicely decorated. The breakfast cafe was pleasant too, with plenty of buffet choices.

The bedsheets left several of us with itchy rashes, and the car horns outside were loud and nonstop. On the non-smoking floor, the guests next door kept making noise and smoking with their door open. I called the manager several times, but they didn’t make much effort to fix it. The neighbors refused to move, so we ended up having to change rooms.
