The executive lounge was a highlight, with lovely river views and a good spread of snacks, food, and drinks throughout the day. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, with classic decor and great housekeeping, despite what some reviews said. The subway entrance is right in front, and both the East and West high-speed rail stations are about 30 minutes away by cab. The birthday cake I ordered for my partner arrived without the personalized tag, and nobody explained why. Even worse, the front desk asked about the delivery in front of him and ruined the surprise. The staff at reception also seemed task-focused and short on warmth, which we rarely find at other Marriott hotels or even lower-star hotels in China. As a Platinum member, my upgrade was only to a higher executive floor. We picked Sheraton because of our Bonvoy loyalty, but after this stay Shangrila seems like better value, with river views and a location by major attractions, especially the Qiushui Square fountain light show.

The staff made a point of remembering my name, which gave the stay a personal touch and made me feel valued. From arrival onward, the service was impeccable, and they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The restaurant had an outstanding range of delicious food. Right in the city center, the hotel made it easy to explore the area, and its international-brand hospitality and professionalism were top-notch. It exceeded my expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Without a doubt, it’s the place to go in the area.

Five of us came from Singapore and had a wonderful two-day stay. The service executives in every area were very friendly, especially front desk staff Zhu Yizhou and his colleagues. We’d like to thank them.
