Getting around the Garden Expo area was the main problem. It was hard to access and navigate, and the directions changed depending on who we asked. The shuttle arrangements and drivers caused a lot of confusion. That may explain why the area felt nearly deserted even in high season; locals may have noticed the logistical difficulties and gone elsewhere. The hotel is also quite far from Nanjing city center, so visiting the city means allowing about a 45-minute drive each way, though I highly recommend exploring it. The hotel itself was pleasant. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated, and the service was friendly, although English was very limited. Breakfast had a good range of local and international choices. The hot springs didn't seem like natural thermal baths to me. They felt more like big jacuzzi pools, so anyone expecting authentic spring water might be disappointed.

The hot spring felt like a swimming pool, and had a chlorine, acidic smell. The lobby manager and front desk staff also provided poor service. Our room card stopped working before checkout time, so we spent a lot of time going back and forth to the front desk to get it sorted. Staff said it had expired almost there, but didn't apologize. The deposit calculation seemed unreasonable too: 500 per night for one room meant 1000 for two nights. For four nights, would we have to pay 2000?
