The Ritz-Carlton, Nanjing

I think this is probably Nanjing's best hotel. It's a relatively new Ritz Carlton in the centre of Xin Jie Kou, with a direct entrance into the huge Deji Centre mall. Everything was in great shape, and the facilities felt very new. Turn-down service each night was fine, room service was great, and check-in was a little slow because I was there during a busy period, but still fine. The view was fantastic too. I was really happy with my stay at this Ritz, and in my opinion it was better than the Pudong one in Shanghai.

The room design, luxurious interiors, food and beverage, and recreational spaces all impressed me. Service was friendly and helpful as well. I regularly stay with Mandarin oriental Pearl, the Peninsula, and Park Hyatt groups, and I'm a fan of Mandarin oriental Pearl. Even so, the Ritz Carlton Nanjing impressed me across the board. It's certainly one of China's top hotels, and I'll be back in the Spring soon.

Just checked out after a pleasant stay at Ritz Carlton Nanjing. It's right in the heart of Nanjing, with Deji shopping mall downstairs, which is very convenient. My room was spacious, and the swimming pool and sauna were well maintained. Yutta Yin and Rich liu at the entrance kindly helped introduce me to Nanjing, and I'm very grateful. After I called to say traffic would keep me from getting back before checkout, Manager Mr Hou extended my checkout time. Many thanks for that. The city has lots of historic sites to see, so I highly recommend it.

I had to pay a hefty foreign transaction fee after the hotel’s card machine couldn’t connect to its server and I was asked to use Alipay. Breakfast was another mess: after waiting 50 minutes, I was told I had only 10 minutes to eat. And despite every room category showing as available online, I got no upgrade as a Platinum Elite. Probably the worst Ritz-Carlton I’ve stayed at.
