Nanning Marriott Hotel

Right in central Nanning, with most of the main business areas nearby. It’s a nice hotel, and there’s a mall next door with plenty of places to eat and shop.

We found the service good during our time in nanning. The staff tried their best to help with what we needed, and the lounge’s afternoon tea was a treat. When we visited in early Jan, it had a Chinese new year theme. The pastries and cakes were beautifully made and edible, even the macaron handles. The menu changes by season and you need to order for at least two, so go with family if you have some spare time. Getting around is easy from Marriot Nanning. There’s a mall right beside the hotel with lots of food choices and a supermarket, and the metro is a three-minute walk from the mall. MixC mall is one metro stop away or about a 15-minute walk, which is pleasant outside summer. The air-conditioning was the frustrating part. We’ve had this problem at several Marriot hotels in china, though some rooms work fine and others don’t, maybe it’s luck. In autumn and winter our rooms were often like saunas. The system is centrally controlled, and the remote is basically useless.

The view over the park and exhibition center is beautiful, and there are two malls close by for restaurants and shopping. Staff were really friendly and helped make things comfortable. If you’re unsure what to order, the buffet at the in Marriott cafe has a huge range to explore. It’s also well connected for getting around.

The room was clean, spacious, and modern, but I was surprised there wasn’t a coffee machine. All I had was a kettle and a few tired instant coffee sachets. Breakfast was disappointing too, with very little Western food, and the Chinese options weren’t great quality, things like hard-boiled eggs, steamed buns, baked sweet potatoes, congee, and noodles. The location is a real plus: it’s within walking distance of the NICEC and linked to a posh mall with plenty of restaurants and fast food, including Starbucks, McDonald, and Pizza Hut. Line 1 metro is only a few minutes away and goes straight to Nanning East HSR Station.
