Hilton Jiuzhaigou Resort

The room stayed hot and humid throughout our visit, and the air conditioning never worked. We chose a modern Hilton in part because it was advertised with air conditioning. We raised the issue with the front desk on both days and, through our Chinese tour guide, explained face to face that the room was intolerable. No engineer fixed it. Instead, staff suggested opening the small windows and gave us a plug-in fan, neither of which could bring down the heat or humidity. I checked the thermostat and found a setting that showed a false temperature, five degrees below the actual one. It was set to display the true temperature, but showed 18°C when the room was really 23°C. The rooms do have air conditioning units, but they did not work. I can only conclude that the hotel disables cooling in that wing when occupancy is low or when it decides guests can put up with the heat. The hallway and lobby were air conditioned, which made the difference even harder to understand. We arrived on a hot day to a hot room, spent the next day sweating in the park, and returned to the same uncomfortable room. The hotel charges over $100 for a 60-minute massage, yet didn’t provide the air conditioning we paid for. We’ve stayed at more than 30 hotels around China and Asia, including in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, where the air conditioning was better. This experience damages the Hilton brand, and it’s disappointing that Hilton allows an operator using its name to behave this way. If you have the same problem, I’d contact Hilton directly. We paid for an air-conditioned room, the hotel knew it had no working cooling, and the thermostat displayed a false reading despite our attempts to resolve it.

The nightly fireplace dance was a fun part of the stay, and Lila at reception was friendly and helpful the whole time. This was the best hotel experience of my recent China trip. When we got off the high-speed train, we took a bus that left us some distance from the hotel. Staff spotted us and carried our heavy luggage up the stairs. On checkout day, Alan took our bags all the way to the convenience store where our bus back to the train station picked us up. We really appreciated the help.

So Tant and Zhenzhu took such good care of our transport plans. My friend and I wanted a safe, private driver, and the staff arranged our trips between the hotel and Huanglongjiuzai station, as well as a great driver for our day hikes at Huanglong and jiuzaigou. They kept checking whether we needed anything and even organized very personalized gifts and perks. We spent 4D3N at Hilton Jiuzaigou and had a wonderful time. The service was top notch, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Jiuzaigou. A big thank you to Tant and Zhenzhu ❤️🙏🏻

The nighttime entertainment was a great part of the Jiuzhaigou visit: fireworks at 8, dance and light shows, and a live band at hardrock cafe. The hotel also had good facilities, food, and service. A fun way to experience this popular tourist spot.
