City Comfort Inn Shenzhen Luohu Chunfeng Road Branch

I stayed here in April 2014 for 53 USD. It's not bad, and I'd stay again if I visit. Luohu station is nearby for going to Hong Kong, and the local metro is easy to reach too.

The rooms have been renovated and the modular setup is okay, though the outside of the hotel looks old. That didn't bother me much, since the age seemed to suit a mix of tastes and ages. What did bother me was the water. Both times I boiled it, and even when I poured it into a glass, it was full of bubbles. They stayed in the boiled water and there was an odor. I asked the hotel about it; the technician said splashing water on surfaces can sometimes make bubbles. I then called the cleaning lady, and seeing the situation made me really upset. It felt like management was shifting blame because of its own issues. I insisted that a manager come investigate, and said that with the country open to the world, this kind of quality would only attract criticism. After that, they offered breakfast and dinner in the same way, and we ordered one breakfast per person. I was shocked the next morning. It looked worth only a few tens of dollars, and there was nobody there. I ordered noodles, took a couple of bites, then stopped because the water was too clear and the food had no real taste. There was also congee with side dishes, but it was the least I've seen at a domestic hotel that includes breakfast. Even hotels in Jiangmen costing at least 150 yuan have 6 to 7 kinds of dishes. I hope Lee Hotel improves the quality of its staff and the hotel itself before opening to the public.

The rooms are quite clean, though some of the facilities feel old. Shenzhen Hongfeng Hotel has been around a long time, and that shows.

The amenities feel a little outdated, but the location by Xiangxicun Station is convenient. Rooms also have satellite service.
