The airport is only about a four-minute drive away, which is convenient. Still, the transfer arrangement was a mess. We'd booked the hotel's airport shuttle, but no one communicated with us and nobody was there when we arrived. It took 45 minutes and two rounds of help from the airport information desk before we finally got a ride. That was especially unpleasant after arriving late. At the hotel, we found that the staff didn't speak English. I'd expect that at an ordinary city hotel, but not one focused on international airport transfers. We finally reached our room after midnight, only to find it smelled of cigarettes. That alone would have earned it a minus ten star rating from me. They also wanted us to head to the airport earlier than necessary. I had told them when we wanted to be there, but they scheduled our drop-off an hour ahead of that. In the end, we were just glad to leave and would rather wait at the airport than at this hotel.

Bathroom privacy can be a problem in China, with things like missing locks or blurry glass walls that can feel awkward when sharing a room. We found the washroom here had proper privacy, though, and none of those issues.

I was only there for a night stopover, so I can't really comment on the neighborhood. It looked pretty empty. The room, though, was immaculate for what I paid.

The flight meals were pretty good, and the airport clearance went smoothly. Jiaodong International Airport is brand new and serves as the gateway to Shandong Province. The hotel is right by the airport, which makes it very convenient for travelers. Highly recommended! These airport photos are here for reference. We departed Friday morning, February 13, 2026.

The room was spacious and fairly clean, though it smelled strongly of smoke. We booked through Booking.com for an overnight stay because of an awkward flight connection. The hotel is about five minutes from the airport, with a free shuttle. Call when you arrive and they send a car, ours came in 10-15 minutes. Staff don't speak English, let alone Russian, but an online translator helped us sort things out. There's a restaurant on site, but breakfast wasn't included even though the website said it would be. A little shop sells water and basic groceries, and there are several similar shops nearby with cheaper prices. It seems like the hotel mostly serves as a place for flight crews to rest between flights.
