Golden Star Select Hotel (Quanzhou West Street Bell Tower)

The smoke was the most alarming part, and apparently a common issue in Quanzhou. Even though the rooms are listed as non-smoking, people can smoke freely in the hallway, where the hotel even puts out ashtrays. How is that any different from smoking in the room? It felt like nobody had thought about non-smokers. Waking up to the smell of smoke first thing in the morning was quite an experience! ^_^ There were problems inside the room too. The curtains were so short they always left a gap, and the air conditioning seemed centrally controlled. Whatever settings I tried, the room wouldn't get cold, and it was cooler outside than in the room. The bathroom made me feel as if I'd wandered into someone else's partly occupied room = =. There was black mold on the tape near the sink and a lot of mold around the toilet. The floor was wet when I checked in, the shower gel and other toiletries were only half full instead of eight-tenths full, and the toilet paper looked used, with very uneven tears. The hotel offered free Wi-Fi but gave no instructions for connecting, so I had to call the front desk. The staff there weren't very friendly either. This was the worst accommodation experience I've ever had.
