Hongfeng Qiaolian Hotel

A comfortable stay, and the breakfast was nice.

The hotel is right by a scenic riverbank, which made for a nice evening walk after dinner. Across the road, the sundry shop sells dried food, Yongchun lacquered baskets (bakul siah in Malay), altar display cloth, and other things. The elderly woman serving me was very warm, and her prices were much lower than those in Xiamen shops. Breakfast had a nice spread for overseas Chinese, including local snacks like stuffed glutinous rice balls, or Hakka snacks, but there was almost nothing Western. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was good too. The stewed pork knuckle (hong bak) was tasty, and the lohmee was just as good. I stayed one night on the second floor. The room was clean but had a horrible layout: the bed was right by the entrance, while the bathroom was farther in next to a window overlooking a private residence's parking area and backyard, with no scenic view. The bed was so close to the door and there wasn't much soundproofing, so I could hear people in the corridor walking and shutting doors all night.

The lobby is grand and extremely large. Breakfast had limited options, but what was there tasted delicious. This place definitely feels like a five-star hotel.
