2/11/2023 Thursday Taining Hotel We spent two nights at Taining Hotel, which has both guest rooms and a full Chinese restaurant. We had lunch and dinner there on our first day, and the meals were quite up to standard for group tour dining. The hotel is decorated with lots of retro-style furnishings.

Our local guide said this was the best hotel in Taining. I liked the rooms, and the breakfast selection was decent, though most of the dishes were vegetarian.

The place is extremely run-down. The bathroom's brass shower switch is moldy, and the showerhead can't be moved without pulling the water pipes away from the wall, as shown in the red circle. There are cracks in the walls, a hole in the vanity that makes me worry about insects, and the wardrobe bottom is blackened, probably from mold. The wooden tables, chairs, and other furniture are starting to chip and look very old. The ceiling lights are covered up, but the insides are broken. I'm honestly astonished.

Breakfast could use more effort.
