Crowne Plaza Resort Sanya Bay Hotel

Its only real advantage is being close to the airport. The nearby beaches aren't attractive, there's nothing much in the surrounding area, and the pools were, well... The hotel deserves two stars at most. Maybe it was like a five-star inland China hotel 40 years ago. The rooms were old and in bad condition. Reception offered no smile or service, and room service staff knocked on doors with strangers. The breakfast and dinner buffets were very low standard, and the seats were dirty. I was really shocked when I moved in. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

The price is very reasonable for what you get. The hotel is a bit dated, but it's well maintained and very clean. Our room was lovely and super clean, and they kindly upgraded us without us asking. The staff were kind. English could be challenging, but I don't expect everyone in the world to speak perfect English. Special thanks to Boannie and the other receptionist whose name I forgot, they spoke good English and took extra time to help us with a few things. Definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Sanya.

The site is lovely, right on the beach, with a five-star view. But it's under the airport flight path, and the airport is only 15 minutes away. It's a bit out of town, too. Much of the staff don't speak English, and those who do are just passable, so room service is a challenge. The staff were lovely and helpful, and they appreciated my rudimentary Chinese. The view felt five-star, while the atmosphere was more three-star. I expected the full package, after all, it's Crowne Plaza!

The room has a really comfy bed and a super beautiful ocean view, and the price is reasonable. But the room service phone line wasn't available at all. I eventually managed to order through the guest service housekeeping manager, which was pretty funny. English service may be available if you're lucky. It's one of the IHG hotel brands. There are 3 hotels called “Crowon Plaza” in Sanya, and I guess the one in Sanya bay 😅😅😅😅 is the worst. If you stay for a day or two, go without expectations. Also, Club room guests don't get the free Happy hour you might find in another Club lounge, so you'd better head to restaurants for dinner.
