Crowne Plaza Sanya City Center

The hotpot was the biggest letdown. The chicken broth had no flavor, and everything cooked in it tasted bland unless I dipped it in soy sauce. The sushi and sashimi weren’t any better. For a buffet, I expected at least salmon or tuna sashimi, but neither was available, and the maki rolls disappointed too. The cooked dishes were mediocre, with only lamb and chicken among the meats I saw. I’d expected beef and pork as well.

The bed was comfortable, breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. It’s close to the city centre, and the amenities were all provided. The toilet was old but clean and could use maintenance. It can also get noisy at night.

We spent a night here after a couple of days at beach resorts, so we could see a little of the city. The downtown Sanya view was nice, and breakfast had lots of options. The outdoor pool on the fifth floor, I think, was large and had separate areas for children and adults. The staff were friendly, and I guess the room has been updated since the change from Ramada to CP. One issue: the balcony glass door didn’t seal properly, and wind on the higher floors made quite a bit of noise.

It was busy because we were there close to Chinese new year, but the staff were helpful and the rooms were spacious and very clean. The hotel itself is huge and in a good location. We stayed for three nights at the end of January 24, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
