The service here really stood out. Staff across the property were consistently attentive, and on a cold, windy day the lifeguards even brought us warm towels as we left the pool. The guest ambassador helped with our needs and kept us updated on activities. Thanks, Luke! There’s a language barrier since only the front desk seemed to speak English, but I’m from a non-English-speaking country myself. Breakfast offered plenty for Asian and non-Asian guests, and the lounge food was varied and tasty, even by my French gourmet standards. The facilities are great, and our stay was memorable. We’d be happy to return. Our six-year-old especially loved the “Forest” kids club and the care from her guardian angel Stella. The smaller kids’ room and outdoor park were also fun, with good staff. Standard rooms are big, and there are lots of free extras for kids on request. I’ve never seen such a generous set of amenities: bathrobe, bath products, a plush toy for children, skincare, a welcome gift with Rituals beauty products, and a mini bar stocked on arrival. Two things really upset me. First, the room floor was VERY VERY dirty. We washed it twice with a towel, then called housekeeping. Even after they cleaned it, a towel wiped across the floor still came away grey. Floor cleaning seems to be a wider problem: the garden paths weren’t very clean, and some pool-area toilets weren’t well maintained either. Second, before we arrived, the IHG App and website showed an upgrade to the same room type with Club Lounge access. The front desk agent confirmed the access at check-in, but the next day it was denied. Mr. Kris and Mr Hong patiently and kindly helped resolve it, but having to push for a benefit already shown before arrival and confirmed at check-in was really annoying. I was furious at the time. Even with those incidents, the service across the property was remarkable, better than at higher-end hotels I’ve visited in several countries. You could feel how consistently staff made an effort. Crowne Plaza Haitang Bay sets a great example of hospitality and service at a five-star hotel.

For young kids, especially ages 1 to 6, this has been the best hotel I’ve stayed at. There’s a mini waterpark and three pools outside, plus an arcade and a huge indoor climbing and treehouse area. They’ve thought of little details too: mini dressing gowns and slippers in the bedroom, and bibs and plastic bowls at every table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For Australians, getting there is a bit difficult, though that could change if direct flights from Sydney to Sanya start. If you don’t have young children, this really isn’t the place for you. They don’t seem to be aiming at the adult market, which is fine, but there are no cocktails by the pool. And oddly, they won’t let you swim in the sea. Sanya has first-class hotels for all kinds of guests, so the trip is worth it if you can get there. With kids, you can’t go wrong.

We had a memorable stay at Crowne Plaza Sanya Haitang Bay Resort. The beach was clean, and the resort had great facilities, with quiet spots to relax alongside plenty of activities for children. The staff were especially attentive, and the modern, comfortable rooms and distinctive, beautiful design made a strong impression. It exceeded all my expectations.

A wonderful place to stay with children. The kids’ themed rooms were a 10/10, and the people working there were so welcoming and helpful. We don’t speak Chinese, but our stay was still really comfortable. Whenever we needed help, someone tried to assist us. Highly recommended if you want a comfortable vacation!
