The area around the hotel isn’t very pleasant for an evening walk. The buildings are small, one side is cluttered with cars, and the other doesn’t really lead anywhere. There are only a couple of little shops and a cafe serving food, and the lighting is poor at night. The rooms are shabby, and you can hear the toilet flushing upstairs when you shower or wash. I was bitten by some kind of mosquito, and the repellent tablets in the room didn’t help. Staff struggled to understand me through the translator, but they did try. The hotel doesn’t always show up on maps, so I booked an airport transfer through Ostrovok and booked the hotel there too. After checking in, I sent myself the location to show taxi drivers. Once I worked out the buses, getting around became easier. Stops are a 5-7-minute walk away, and public transport takes about the same time to get to the glass bridge and Ananas shopping center 🍍. There’s also a nearby wholesale fruit and vegetable market and a supermarket with all sorts of things, from textiles and tableware to prepared food, canned goods, produce, and shampoo. The hotel is away from noisy areas, so nights were quiet and I slept well.

We’ll stock up here before our flight home. It’s a cheap wholesale market for fruit and seafood, with a huge selection and reasonable prices. They let you taste unfamiliar fruits too. I had no idea garden pineapples could be this delicious 🤤
