InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort

The breakfast was varied, the service was excellent, and the family-friendly amenities were top-notch. A few staff members had limited English, but the stay was relaxing and high-quality overall. InterContinental Sanya has spacious, clean rooms, several pools, and lovely sea views right by the beach. A luxurious spot for a serene tropical getaway.

The beach was good, with soft tan sand that was well maintained, though there were only a few loungers. There’s parasailing, but it didn’t appear to be solo. The hotel has pleasant pool areas with plenty of natural scenery, and a large grassy area with varied trees and plants makes for a comfortable walk to the beach. Room service was very attentive and quick. If you want the best views, ask for a room at least on the eighth floor, and be firm about your requests. The Club Room was good, but go early. It serves only afternoon tea and a light dinner, with alcohol, and the service was excellent. The big downside was a huge construction project next door, making noise all day. It was unpleasant and unwelcoming, and the nearby new hotel is quite a sight, as the photo shows. There wasn’t much English spoken, and the building looked old and tired. The ocean can be rough, and apart from a large mall with only a few food choices, there’s not much nearby. There were lots of families with kids. The adult pool was unfortunately closed, so we had to use the family pool area. The ground level could be noisy, though the property on the left side seemed much quieter. Weekends were busier, and there were more Chinese than foreign guests. I’d call this a 4 star hotel, so keep expectations in check. We paid extra for hotel transportation, but it was well worth it because the airport was a bit confusing.

The room was spacious and comfortable, just perfect. The restaurant staff, including Latte, didn’t know English, but they were polite. A big international hotel could improve on that. Still, it was very good overall!

We loved our three nights at the Intercontinental Sanya Haitang Bay. The grounds were lush and green, the facilities were well kept, and we had beach access, a lovely pool area, and a gym. The beach loungers were great for relaxing, though strong currents mean swimming in the ocean is restricted. Our spotless room had everything we needed, even a Dyson hairdryer, and the sea views each morning were breathtaking. Breakfast was excellent, with Chinese and international dishes, fresh juices and fruit, and live cooking stations. There was plenty for everyone. We also had a memorable dinner at Aqua Restaurant, the striking seafood restaurant set around an impressive aquarium. A huge duty-free shopping centre with all the top brands is nearby. Wonderful amenities and food, and those views made it a fantastic stay. Highly recommend!
