Mandarin Oriental, Sanya

Our villa was superb and better than we expected, and we had a great time at the pools. The resort also has a fun activity center where our three-year-old grandchild had a lot of fun. Breakfast was awesome, and the facilities and amenities were fabulous. Big shout out to Mihai, who made us feel right at home. Fiona was delightful and always looked after our needs, and Danny was always smiling.

I’m deeply disappointed by the service at Sanya Mandarin Oriental and by what seemed like poor training. It’s especially upsetting because I’ve personally referred many businesses in the Greater Bay Area to hold events at your hotel.

The landscape is stunning, and the service is excellent. It's a world-class hotel with big, comfortable rooms, a pillow menu, and even flip-flops for walking in the rain.

Our independent house was close to the beach, with its own little pool. Having that private pool turned out to be nicer than I expected. Snorkelling nearby was great, with beautiful fish and quite a bit of coral. Our two-year-old loved playing in the sand and in the pool. The main pool was huge and beautiful, and hardly anyone was there. It also had a small waterslide, though it was out of service during our visit. Breakfast was great even with my sensitivities to wheat/gluten, dairy, and egg. The pastries looked delicious, haha. The mango was wonderful too, though you have to ask the person at the fruit table to cut some for you. Service was great. I can't say how easy it would be if you only speak English, since my wife did most of the talking in Chinese. At least one worker at the drop-off area spoke English fluently, and all the signs were in English too.
