Sanya Pearl River Garden Hotel

For the price, it’s decent, though the hotel is a bit old. It feels like the EU in the 90th. A taxi from the airport costs roughly 70 RMB. The rooms and basic things are fine, including the space, sea view, housekeeping, pool, and breakfast. The trouble starts when you need to contact reception. Nobody speaks English, only Chinese or Russian, though I speak Chinese. The team there really lacks a service mindset. They even seem to play some kind of game to make things difficult for guests and show they’re in charge. Try the hotel and you’ll see what I mean, it’s amazing. By the way, avoid contacting reception, including manager Cherry, and you should be fine. ;)ï

Pearl River Garden is one of the better hotels in Donghai Bay. It’s been fully renovated and is in a convenient spot, with the sea close by. Families with kids should find it suitable, and so should anyone looking for treatment: there’s a medical center in the basement, where hotel guests get 20% off. The rooms are excellent, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious with plenty of amenities available. I’d happily recommend staying here.

The New Year’s event was the letdown. The banquet ended at 1 a.m., just after midnight, and everyone was told to leave the hall. If I’d known that was how it would go, I’d have booked a table at a café on the promenade. The hotel itself is in a very good location, with a nice view from the room by the shore and direct access to the beach and waterfront. Breakfast was good, the staff were responsive, and the room was clean, with daily housekeeping.
