Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Sanya Bay

We’re staying here now, and after three days nobody has explained the hotel’s services, schedules, or prices. The guide seems more focused on selling SIM cards, exchanging currency, and arranging excursions than helping guests. Staff don’t seem interested in assisting us or making any accommodation. We were upgraded to the room we had booked in the old Ramada building, on the fourth floor. Renovations started downstairs early this morning. The bathroom has no proper outlet for my styler, and the only mirror is in there too. Since we’re staying 20 nights, we’d like to pay extra to upgrade. Breakfast is okay, and the beach is nice.

The breakfasts were the one thing I really liked: varied, tasty, and always fresh. But I wouldn’t stay here just for them, and I wouldn’t come back. Getting around is a hassle. The hotel has no entrance of its own, so we go in through the Wyndham, and it takes a long time to reach our room from the main entrance. The center is far away, and while there’s plenty nearby, everything is extremely expensive, with a huge markup. The beach is a ten-minute walk away, not right outside, and there are no sun loungers or lifeguards. Staff don’t greet or smile, aren’t especially helpful, and speak only Chinese. They don’t even try to understand us. The rooms are large and nice, but dirty and poorly cleaned. Furniture is worn and stained. There’s constant noise from upstairs neighbors and the street. The hallways are open to the street, leaving the rooms on the balcony side exposed to the noise. The WiFi doesn’t work at all. The apps we use are blocked there, and even maps won’t open. Roaming doesn’t work either, so as soon as you enter the room, everything stops loading.

I stayed in room 501 from April 19 to April 29, 2025. This is a wonderful modern hotel, and I left with a very positive, memorable impression. The room was cleaned every day, regularly and to a very high standard. The staff and managers were especially polite and attentive. When an issue came up, they kept at it and did their best to resolve it, which felt like a high level of service. Dadadian, Freya Liu, and the rest of the hotel team deserve a special mention. I needed somewhere near the airport before a night flight, and this place worked well. It might not have been the cheapest or closest choice, but I was traveling with a child and wanted a pool and kids’ club where they could spend the day. This was a good fit. The small toddler pool was heated, so it wasn’t cold, and the sandpit had toys. There was a restroom right beside it and a place to wash off the sand, so it had everything we needed. The adult pool was spacious and quite deep, but too cold to use. The hotel felt a little dated, though staff spoke English fairly well. The pool bar buffet was decent for the price, and children under 120 were free. If you avoid noisy Russian tour groups and street smokers, it’s good value and a satisfying stay. The shopping mall connected to the hotel is worth a visit. There’s good local food and some nice deals at the fairly large supermarket.
