Sanya Holiday Resort

NONE OF THE BARS WERE OPEN!!!! My girlfriends and I stayed for a 5 day holiday and booked the triple duplex. The room was awesome, but that’s where the positives mostly ended. The hotel did serve a really good breakfast buffet, and my vegan friend managed by taking away food in containers. Since the only restaurant on site was the hot pot place, and the room service food was terrible, we all relied on buffet leftovers for the day. Also, the hotel had a convenient store attached, so we saved money on drinks and used it to splurge on tours and spa services outside the hotel. One reason we chose this place was all the bars and restaurants, hoping for a relaxing resort-style holiday in “The Hawaii of China.” But none of the bars were open, and the only way to get a drink there was to order their million Yuan hot pot prefixed menu. We weren’t even allowed cups from the hotel to drink our 7-11 booze, and got scolded when we tried the pool sliding board. Just one inconvenience after another. The triple duplex was great, but they let us into the room to drop off our things before it had been cleaned. It was TRASHED, and gave us an icky feeling for days. We even had to ask for another cleaning. The location was convenient, but the beaches were so crowded that we hardly used them. The hostesses weren’t helpful and needed constant reminders that we weren’t Russian and spoke English. WiFi barely worked, so we mostly had to rely on the hotel staff’s phones and translations. A lot of guests threw litter into the pools and around the property, which was really frustrating. It also seemed like many retired neighborhood locals used the pool chairs to get out of their homes during the day, so finding a seat was difficult. All those bars and restaurants were one of the main reasons we booked, but this ZERO AMENITY RESORT HOTEL just wasn’t a relaxing holiday for adults. Go for one of the pricier all-inclusives in Yalong Bay if you want service and hospitality.
