Sanya Royal Garden Resort

The breakfasts were a real highlight: shrimp, mussels, Chinese dishes, plus the usual scrambled eggs, yogurt and cereal. There was plenty to choose from, and we ate everything. Rooms were cleaned every day, with two water bottles and fresh towels each day. During our two weeks, the bedding was changed three times, which was nice. The sea view from the room matched what we were promised. The grounds are small, basically the hotel and pool, and the pool has a gorgeous view even though it looks a bit tired. We stayed May 18-31, 2019. I took off a star because the hotel felt tired, and another because there was no guide at the hotel. To see one, we had to go back and forth up 62 steps to another hotel on the hill. From there, an elevator saves you the 142 steps down to the beach. The beach is reached through the Liking Hotel. We considered upgrading to room 7506, which we spotted on our hotel tour. It had a veranda, but cost an extra 150 yuan. For food in town, walk left along the road from the hotel and you'll get there in about 15 minutes. We really liked the Maxim restaurant, a little farther on after the Moskva Tavern if you keep going straight. We found it easiest to reach town along the embankment: pass the restaurant with red lanterns and tables by the water, then the Bali Bar, and take the stairs up. Continue straight past the hotel on the right whose name I can't remember, with intime on the left, and you'll come to the Moskva Tavern. The shopping center across from Maxim is called winter and summer.

The pool is up on the 10th floor, with palm trees and a road below, then glowing hotels in the distance and the sea beyond. In the room there are eight power outlets, seven lighting settings, and brilliant beds. There's also a kettle, fridge, umbrella for sun or rain, and even scales 🤓. Robes, slippers, shampoo, plus an ironing board and iron are there too. Magnificent!

Didn't expect the hotel to be this good. The rooms are roomy and cozy, with a lovely view, but the pool is the real standout.

Clean air, lots of excursions and sights, and friendly, knowledgeable Chinese people made this resort island a wonderful place. Highly recommend it.
