Our room was on the hotel’s left side, with a balcony overlooking the pools. It felt a little dated, but it was comfortable and had everything we needed for a good stay. We booked at the last minute after disliking the hotel we’d already booked in Yalong Bay. Thankfully, Swissôtel was still available at a very good rate. When we arrived in the morning, the booking hadn’t appeared in the system yet. The receptionist tracked it down and got us checked in by 1 pm, even though our booking was for later. We had a wedding at another hotel that afternoon and needed time to freshen up and change. My wife and I are very grateful for his help. We can’t thank him enough.

The lobby is huge and really nice, which makes the rest a pity. The rooms are spacious but feel old and humid, and they’re not maintained well. There was often a moldy smell, and I even found a cockroach on the floor. Reception staff seemed untrained and very slow.

The worst part was breakfast. The hotel brings in loads of tourists to the canteen, and it turns into mayhem. People push and shove while trying to get food, tables are hard to find, and you have to guard your chair from being taken. The food itself was horrible. It felt like a five-star price for a two-star breakfast, more battlefield than meal. The hotel is old, small, and incredibly crowded. I nearly had a meltdown at breakfast. If you’re reading this, take it as a sign to book somewhere else. I wish someone had told me before I booked.

It’s a very good hotel, with spacious rooms and a lovely setting. Jojo is the star, her hospitality is outstanding!
