A big thank you to Ms. Luna, who made our stay memorable and pleasant. She helped us with absolutely everything, and did it quickly. I hope her management sees this and gives her proper praise. The place is beautiful, with tropical grounds, beachfront views, and well-kept facilities. Staff were warm, attentive, and personal from the moment we arrived. Our spacious, spotless room was elegantly designed, with thoughtful touches. Housekeeping came twice daily, and in the evening they left a glass and bottle of water by the bed. They also stocked the minibar with the soft drinks we chose. Breakfast was included, with a huge range that felt more like a lunch or dinner menu. Prices around the property are high, though the quality of both service and everything else was good. It’s very kid friendly, with an indoor playground and activities throughout the day. You can also get 10 professional photos for free.

The villa was fantastic for our nine-day stay, with great rooms, a private pool, and a jacuzzi. The butlers were friendly and helpful. Food was the letdown. It was expensive and not tasty, and the villa guests’ breakfast, which was supposed to be better, had very limited choices and stale bread. My husband and I expected more from a five-star resort at this price. We ended up ordering from local places, which weren’t great either, or leaving the property to eat at another hotel restaurant. The villa itself was superb, but the onsite food needs improvement.

The sandy beach is pretty good, and the rooms were clean, though the hotel is aging. Its restaurants are very expensive, even by US standards. Still, I don’t think we’ll return. We had a really bad, quite pathetic New Year party at St. Regis Sanya, so we went to nearby Sheraton instead, where the NY 2026 celebration was great and entertaining. Expedia’s descriptions of amenities can be wrong. They may sell you an ocean view, but hotel staff may put you in a pool or garden view room. Expedia didn’t seem to have control over this, since most guests book through local travel sites. When our reservation was wrong, staff weren’t helpful. One manager, a woman who called herself "Chris", seemed sly and deceitful and tried to check us into a room we hadn’t booked. Awful experience. We also saw several other unhappy guests arguing at reception. Internet was spotty and unstable, even with a VPN.

The hotel has grand design, with impressive privacy and security, and the staff provided excellent service. Ken Ma looked after us at breakfast in the social restaurant, taking great care with the food and drinks and even the restaurant temperature.

The kids loved this resort so much they’ve already asked to come back for our next holiday. We had a great time too. Our room was luxurious and well appointed, and the lagoon-pool access room is one I’d recommend. The pools were great for children and just the right temperature. Breakfast had a good spread of Western and Chinese food, and we enjoyed the Hainanese dishes at Mei Xuan for dinner. Each night we went to the beach bar for cocktails and Monica’s live music. The beverage team were excellent, and Claire and Dennis took great care of us.
