Atour Hotel Shanghai Bund Nanjing East Road

The room was tidy, clean, and comfortable to come back to at night. We also appreciated the staff who helped us during our 9D8N holiday at Atour Hotel Nanjing East Road. Cleaning auntie Lan He was polite and hardworking, and laundry auntie Yunxiao was just as kind. She washed and dried our clothes, folded them neatly, and even brought a basket we forgot to collect to our room on checkout day. The location was good for visiting the tourist area, and breakfast was very good, with a new dish each day. There was only one coffee machine. Water splashed easily out of the basin and made the floor slippery. Thanks to all the hotel staff for a pleasant stay.

From an Australian's point of view, this was a great spot and good value. The Bund is only a two-minute walk away, Luck coffee is across the road, and there’s a decent family mart down the road toward the Bund. Our family of four had plenty of room, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities were excellent. The private rooftop courtyard was a nice extra. Breakfast was fresh with a good choice. The gym is small, but usable.

I ended up staying here the following night with a different party, and the service staff were pleasant. The front desk, though, were rude and difficult to deal with, so I won’t return and have filed a formal complaint. I booked based on the star rating and reviews, then found the price was more than twice that of other quality hotels nearby. I was told I wouldn’t be charged until check-in, but the payment went through hours before I arrived. I cancelled promptly and still hadn’t received a refund after 14 days. It felt like they were trying to take my money.

The rooms were roomy and nice to look at, and the price felt fair. I really appreciated how well housekeeping cleaned and even arranged my shoes. They left a plate of fruit every day, too. Laundry was a lovely extra: they supplied detergent and disinfectant, dried my clothes, and folded them. There was also a light dinner buffet, and the service overall was phenomenal.
