Campanile Shanghai Bund Hotel

The rooms weren’t big, but they were adequate, and the location turned out to be perfect for us. We were worried when we saw the construction nearby at first, but the hotel was so central and the staff were amazing. Wolfpak, the nearby bar with a European theme, was a winner. The Wi-Fi wasn’t reliable.

The location is just so-so. The train station is a bit of a walk, though we used Didi taxi anyway, and walking to the Bund takes about 20 minutes. There’s a small convenience store right next to the hotel, which we loved for quick errands before heading back to the room. For a budget hotel, it was very good, especially the breakfast. The staff were kind and helpful, and our room had enough space for two suitcases. The facilities were in good shape. There’s also a paid washer and dryer on the second floor, easy and convenient to use when needed.

The staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was very good, with Chinese and Western food. The breads and croissants were excellent and hinted at the hotel’s French origins. My room wasn’t large, but it was clean, nicely renovated, and simply laid out in a practical way. The window opened, and everything worked except the small refrigerator. The shower was nice.

The price was great, but the room had an odor and the Wi-Fi was poor. It felt more like a two-star place.
