I arrived to find a grand looking property, with a lovely garden at the entrance and two huge buildings, one for apartments and one for the hotel. Check-in was quick and efficient. During my visit, the gym and pool were out of service, which hadn't been mentioned when I booked. They made up for it by upgrading me to a better room and providing breakfast at no charge, which more than made up for the inconvenience. I enjoyed my stay at City Hotel. The staff I dealt with were courteous, friendly, and professional, and clearly committed to their work. The location is very convenient, and I'd recommend the upgraded Executive Rooms, which are the most modern and offer good value. I'll definitely come back.

I had 12 hours left in this dump, thank goodness. My room smelled like a sewer, so at my request they kindly moved me to one that smelled like an ashtray. The first room was full on ashtray and only partly sewer. The second was “just” still-gag-me sewer. The rooms were stinky, with dirty carpet, and that's the main drawback. The breakfast is a good deal, and the gym is decent now that it's been renovated, though it reeks of pool bleach. You get what you pay for. If you can afford somewhere else, stay there. If not, the amenities are pretty much the best you'll get in this price range.

The lobby smelled like wet dog, which was already a bad sign. The staff-only hallway and rooms were filthy, with all the doors left open. My room had so many stains, hairs, and mold that I couldn't imagine sleeping there. It was a horrible experience, so I left right away. They offered me a “free upgrade,” but with standards that low to begin with, who would want to stay?

It's a fuss-free hotel with a convenient location for walking to lots of shopping areas. The place really needs a major makeover. Breakfast is included as a buffet, but the selection wasn't great.
