The building feels worn, and there’s not much going on around the hotel. The lifts are shared with the office building, so expect to wait. My room was hot with no air conditioning. I left a laundry bag and told reception about it, but all they did was bring the bag into the cabinet. Service was basically absent, and breakfast was awful. One of the worst Marriott hotels I’ve stayed in. I’d choose the Hilton or somewhere else.

The breakfast area floor was often greasy and slippery. I pointed it out to the service team, but they didn’t clean it while I was there. I also had trouble with the elevator in this tall building, especially around checkout and breakfast time, when getting up and down took a while. My room was spacious, modern and very clean, with a safe. It got as hot as 26°C because the air conditioning wasn’t working. There’s a modern gym for guests on the 22nd floor. This is a good, well-equipped place to stay in the Songjiang area, though it’s on the outskirts of Shanghai, about 45 minutes by car from the city centre.

The room floors were where this hotel started to feel like the Marriott I’m used to. The reception, breakfast dining area and facilities could all use some work.

Everything else was great. The only drawback for me was that there’s no bidet in the toilet.
