The location right on Nanjing Road was great, but the service was lacking. Even after showing my IHG membership as a Diamond Elite member, the doorman opened the door and helped us only once. Staff were around at the front desk and buffet, but didn't engage much. The room AC didn't work, and water leaked from the shower door. Housekeeping were the exception, eager to help and asking if we needed anything else. I wouldn't call this a five-star hotel. I've had better attention and service at three-star places. The Crowne Plaza in Guangzhou, on the other hand, was a five-star experience. The staff were friendly, helped with the door and luggage, and the decor was clean and modern. They recognized my Diamond Elite membership there.

The family room was much bigger and more spacious than we expected, and the stay felt comfortable and homely. The staff were busy but still patient and very helpful in understanding what we needed. The location is handy for taxis at the front entrance and exploring on foot from the back entrance, which opens onto Nanjing Road pedestrian street. There were no delivery robots, so we had to pick up Meituan orders from the lockers. In winter the central aircon was set to heating, and the twin room felt stuffy because its window couldn't be opened. The staff responded quickly and brought us a fan for circulation. We were very happy with the convenience and would stay again.

The breakfast was wonderful, with lots of variety, and the service was excellent. The rear entrance opens straight onto Nanjing Lu pedestrian walk, while the main entrance is on Jiujiang Rd. People's Square, or RenMin Guangchang, is the nearest metro station, about 200 metres away on Nanjing Lu. Higher-floor rooms facing east have excellent Bund views. Just wonderful.

Mr. Qi at Concierge used his own money to arrange a courier for me when I couldn't pay on the local courier's website. I really appreciated the help. The newer rooms are large, clean and well equipped, and the hotel is in a fantastic spot along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street.

The room was spotless, comfortable and ready for me, and the hotel service was excellent. Iris Zheng at reception really stood out. She greeted me warmly with a genuine smile, handled everything smoothly and quickly, and was consistently professional and courteous. Her kindness made the stay much easier and more enjoyable. Thanks to Iris Zheng and to the hotel management for choosing people who make such a difference to guests. This place deserves more than five stars.
