The room was spacious and cost about $80 a night with breakfast, and it even had a washlet toilet. But the outlet in my room didn’t work, so I couldn’t charge my devices. The front desk was very slow and unhelpful, and I wasn’t given a receipt for the room. I guess you get what you pay for.

There’s no convenience store close by, so finding something late at night could be tricky if you didn’t shop before getting a taxi back. The hotel entrance is around the back of the street and can be hard to spot the first time, though you’ll know where it is on your next visit. The facilities were about as expected, I had no real complaints, and the Wi-Fi was stable. It’s good value, and I’d recommend it to people who know Shanghai. Gubei Carrefour is a short walk away, there’s a 24-hour McDonald’s nearby, and getting a taxi is easy. Shuicheng Road subway station is also an easy 5-10 minute walk.

The staff were the worst part: they were extremely unfriendly and shouted at guests without trying to communicate. The hotel is old and shabby, and the breakfast was inedible. Absolutely do NOT go there! Friendly advice.

Kangbo Court Hotel took a deposit and never returned it. I called many times, but nobody answered. It looks like business may be struggling, and I’m worried it could go bankrupt.
