There’s a street full of restaurants on Lidoway right next to the hotel, and the hotel is convenient for Hongqiao. It’s a newer property, nicely furnished, very clean and comfortable, without a smell of smoke. The AC worked well. By car, Hongqiao train stn and airport are about 10-15mins away depending on traffic, though Shanghai City center or the Bund is quite far, about a 1hr ride. As a Diamond member I got upgraded to a suite and received a fruit plate, well, in a box. For 4 months when I lost Diamond, I only got the room I booked with no upgrade. Breakfast is nice and leans Chinese. There are some western dishes, but I’d choose the fresh noodles, wonton, congee, and freshly fried cruelers (youtiao).

The rooms are spacious and clean, so I have no complaints about them. Breakfast is typical Chinese. The hotel itself is okay, but the a la carte restaurant is medium to low quality. There are practically no guests, which must make things difficult for the chef, and service takes a long time.

Overall, I had a great stay and would recommend it. The front office staff are very courteous, though only a few speak English. For guests from around the world, the in-room dining could be better.

The staff are friendly, but the air conditioner doesn’t work and they couldn’t even repair it. After a shower, the bathroom floods.
