It’s beautiful and clean, with a quiet location, great service, and really good value. The only snag is finding somewhere to eat nearby, since places are about a 15-minute walk away. You can order food through an app, and the hotel’s room service robot brings the delivery to your room once you give them your room number. Easy and convenient.

The room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly. To me, it was better than five-star hotels in the city center. It’s a bit far from the center, which can be inconvenient, but the walk gives you an even better view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. I’d definitely stay again on my next trip. Clean and nice!

Both rooms we booked, a Family Suite and a Family Suite with kids, were huge, very nice, and clean. The hotel is close to Lawsons Convenient store and Luckin Coffee, just around the corner. There’s paid self-service laundry and a dryer on the second floor by the gym: 25 RMB for a 30-minute wash and 25 RMB for a 45-minute dry. You can buy coins from reception. The Postal Museum is very close, about 50-100 meters away. The Bund and crowded Nanjing Rd East are within walking distance at around 500-700 meters, and Tiantong Station, Line 12 Green and Line 10 Purple, is about 300-400 meters away. The main problem was check-in. We arrived at 1:50 PM, but the room still wasn’t ready at 2:00. We waited in the waiting room until 2:30, then a bald older receptionist with little English kindly took us to the dining area and said they’d bring drinks. We waited 10 minutes and none came. My wife found water taps, filled two cups, and the same receptionist got angry and shouted “NO NO NO FOR BREAKFAST” at her, then “GO CASHIER PAY PAY PAY”. Everyone looked over, and it was very embarrassing. We left for snacks and coffee at Lawsons and Luckin Coffee nearby, then returned at 3:15 and the rooms still weren’t ready. We finally got the key cards at 3:35. Staff speak very little English, so we had to use Google Translate all the time.

The reception failed to handle a simple request to accept a parcel for us, even though we reminded them at the counter three times. They relied on a scrap of paper instead of a proper way to communicate with each other, and the request clearly went without follow-up or coordination. We spoke to them in Mandarin to avoid confusion, but they still couldn’t manage it. Having to keep chasing something so basic made for a terrible experience. That level of service is unacceptable for a hotel.
