I had a lot of fun wandering these charming alleys and found some nice souvenirs to bring home. They're easy to reach, right across from the metro station. I went around 10:00 on a weekday, when it was still quiet and I could browse in peace. The lanes are packed with shops and places to eat. Some have traditional art, while others are chain stores or sell inexpensive trinkets. It's a fun mix to explore.

This is a lively, interesting part of Shanghai that can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends. The narrow lanes are lined with little stores, cafes, and eateries, and the whole area has a beautiful, artsy feel.

Head over around 9 am, before the big crowds arrive, and you can enjoy the area mostly to yourself. Stop for coffee or tasty local food, browse for clothes or a local gift, and take in the lovely old-style buildings along the narrow lane.

Narrow alleyways lined with shops and bars make this a great spot for Instagram photos. There are plenty of small boutiques, and Shanghainese locals still live in the area.

Such a lovely, lively place, and a must-see in Shanghai. Evenings are the best time to visit, though it's enjoyable during the day as well.
