The 24-hour gym is large, and the indoor pool has plenty of room for swimming laps. My room on the 60th floor was spacious too, with a big, well-designed bathroom and striking views across Shanghai. The hotel itself feels grand, with marble, chandeliers, and expansive public areas. It also seems to have been renovated fairly recently. I paid extra at check-in to use The Manor on the 55th floor. It’s a pleasant, roomy lounge, but it isn’t a standard Marriott Bonvoy lounge, so elite status alone doesn’t get you in. Breakfast there had a small but sufficient selection for me, happy hour came with generous food, and the drinks were adequate though somewhat limited. Check-in was busy and involved a short wait, but several staff members organized the arrivals efficiently. English communication with some staff could be challenging at times compared with other Shanghai hotels. Written requests through the Marriott app worked very well. The hotel is centrally located in Jing’an District on Beijing Road. Nanjing Road and its shopping malls are a short walk away, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. I had a solid one-night stay on a business trip. It works for business or leisure if you like traditional, opulent hotels with a classic feel.
The service made this stay. Everyone was warm and helpful, especially Mr. Peng at the door and the two butlers who helped us pack our luggage. They were attentive and professional. The room was spacious, very clean, and had a really comfortable bed, so relaxing after a long day in the city was easy. I also liked the design and Christmas decorations, festive and elegant without feeling overdone, and the atmosphere felt authentic. Breakfast was fine, about what you’d expect from a luxury hotel, but not especially memorable. Still, the atmosphere and service made for a great stay. I’d definitely come back.
Some staff were attentive and professional, and the birthday cake the hotel arranged was a lovely surprise that I genuinely appreciated. But other staff members were noticeably rude, which felt out of place for a hotel at this level. The property itself was excellent: stunning views, spacious bathrooms, thoughtful design, and very high cleanliness. The room was a little noisy, and some breakfast items, including cups, looked worn. Those details took away from an otherwise strong impression.
The people who helped with the practical details made this stay special. Jefferey and another concierge gentleman whose name I unfortunately forgot helped ship my package, and Tom at the entrance helped with my luggage. On the 45th floor, room service attendant Ms Wang Li was kind and efficient, and I’m grateful for her excellent service. The butlers were thoughtful and proactive, and manager Lynn Liu kindly helped when I was concerned about my late checkout. Mr. Peng at the entrance deserves a special mention too. His warm greeting, genuine smile, and courteous help every time I came or went set a lovely tone. I felt as if I’d known him for a long time. Staff throughout were professional, warm, and attentive, with every detail handled carefully. My room was spacious, spotless, beautifully designed, and very comfortable, with a peaceful feel despite being in the heart of Shanghai. The heated swimming pool stays open until 11 pm, which is handy for guests arriving late. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 10:30 am. I left with wonderful memories. The stay exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Shanghai. Highly recommended for refined comfort and excellent hospitality.
That corner room on the 60th floor had an incredible view. I loved soaking in the bath and watching the skyline. The room itself was spacious and so carefully laid out, with a pillow menu, aromatic bath salts, toiletries, and a bidet. It was probably the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in. The only small thing I’d change is the hairdryer location. I wish I could use it in the bathroom instead of in the dark corner by the bed. Service was incredible, and the location worked really well, with restaurants, coffee shops, and lots of shopping within walking distance. There’s also a nice gym and indoor pool.
