The showers and bathrooms were clean, and the rooms got cleaned every day. It's a small, cozy place and probably the cheapest foreigner-friendly hotel in Shanghai, but there are some obvious growing pains since it only recently started accepting foreigners. No one speaks English, and some staff may not know how to check in a foreign passport. The rooms are quite small, and there's no breakfast or room service, so you'll need to go out to eat. Luckily, there are several restaurants and supermarkets downstairs, including a KFC.
