I hadn't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in years, and Amber at the front office made this visit memorable. My stay ran from 7 Jan-13 Jan. When I couldn't use the number the hotel provided to order through my Meituan App, she quickly gave me her own contact number. She seemed to understand what guests needed and was full of energy. The other front desk staff pitched in at breakfast too, clearing tables and keeping the complimentary coffee machines clean.

I was unsure about booking because there weren't many reviews, and Google isn't commonly used in China. Glad I went ahead. The hotel exceeded what I expected and could be useful for other travelers from abroad. My room felt comfortable and more recently updated than friends' rooms at a nearby five-star hotel, especially considering the price. The building feels new and modern, with high-tech appliances, and everything was clean. The location felt safe, central, and quiet. Staff were friendly and brought complimentary bottled water each day. Breakfast had a great selection. They also told me there was free laundry and a gym, though I didn't try either. I'd happily stay here again on my next Shanghai trip.

Getting to the train station was easy since the hotel is right beside it, a big plus for us. The room was spotless and modern, with a sleek, almost futuristic look that made it feel comfortable and special. Breakfast was delicious and had an outstanding range of choices. Ricci gave us a warm welcome and checked us in smoothly, speaking excellent English. At checkout, Kaylin Du and Ivy Xu were kind and accommodating, storing our luggage for an extra day without hassle or complaint. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful stay at Shark Holiday Shanghai Jing’an Express and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai for its modern comfort, convenient location, and great service.

A cockroach turned up in our room, which was a minor problem, but the staff's response was outstanding. The concierge was understanding, quick to help, and arranged an immediate upgrade. That service made a difficult moment much better, and we'd definitely return. We found the rooms spacious and comfortable, and the location was fantastic. Our Shanghai stay was excellent.

Terry at the front desk helped us get medicine, then sent it up to our room with the little robot, which was so cute. The staff were very nice, our room was clean, and breakfast was nice too.
