Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Pujiang Lianhang Road by IHG

The room was very dirty, with dust everywhere and a used sanitary pad. When we asked for room service at night, there were no staff working, so we got no service. The room felt dark and the atmosphere was off. It still wasn't cleaned properly the next day, with dust balls left lying around.

A pleasant place to rest.

The staff didn't speak much English, but they handled things well using translation, so the stay went smoothly. The hotel and washrooms were very clean, the rooms were smoke-free, and breakfast was good. Getting to Shanghai Expo each day wasn't very convenient. It's about a 10-minute walk to the metro, then almost another 40 minutes to the expo, so the hotel is quite far away.

The location is handy, with a supermarket right next door for drinks, instant noodles and other bits. Cross the road and there's a Lawson store and Burger King. It's also near a lot of things, including the airport. Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly, though they didn't always understand English. The rooms are okay, neither great nor bad, but some windows face a wall with no view. The room phones didn't seem to connect to staff. Staff only speak Chinese, so foreigners need Google Translate. They give just one key for a two-person room, which makes it easy to lock yourself out if you're not careful.
