The hotel looked comfortable and up to date, and we were relieved we’d booked just one night. The bathroom smelled really bad, and even my son noticed it. The front desk staff didn’t speak English and gave unclear directions for the free shuttle. My family spent almost two hours looking for it at the airport, sweating and unable to find anyone who knew where the shuttle stop was. We ended up taking a taxi and spending extra money. The hotel WiFi was a headache too: even with the password, you needed a China phone number, and it felt more like public WiFi than hotel WiFi. Drivers didn’t know the hotel name either, though Google Maps got us there. We also tried the takeaway place next to the fried chicken restaurant. The Chinese chicken soup with white rice was awful. The chicken had no taste, but worse, its flavor was so bad I couldn’t swallow it. What a waste of money.
