The room and service were amazing, and having a Japanese toilet was a big plus. Most hotels and other places in Shanghai don't have bidets. They don't provide Byredo toiletries here like other InterContinental locations do, though. Still, it was worth the stay.

My experience with the manager, Annie Lu, was absolutely awful. She was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from the start. When I raised an issue, she didn't try to address it. She ignored it and acted like I was wasting her time. She came across as impatient and arrogant, with no interest in taking responsibility. It's shocking to encounter that kind of management at a five-star hotel with such a strong reputation. I left angry and completely let down. Without a doubt, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. 😫

I had a really enjoyable stay at the Intercontinental. The room was large and clean, with a Japanese-style smart toilet, and if you get lucky, the view from it can be amazing. There are several restaurants, though I only tried Sichuan Spice. The menu seemed endless, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was tasty and had plenty for everyone, though the cheese selection was a bit limited. The bar by the elevators also serves some great hookah.

It's quite old, but still good in every way, with good service. The swimming pool, fitness facilities, spa, steam room, and sauna close at 10:30 pm.

The location isn't good, and getting to other metro stops or places to eat isn't convenient. The food in the club lounge wasn't good either. I wouldn't recommend staying here to any Ambassador Member.
