I was disappointed with my stay at Golden Island Hotel. The reception staff didn’t speak English. When I asked about checkout time, it took 15 minutes to get an answer. I also asked for help booking a taxi to the airport, but they just shrugged and did nothing. The internet was down on three of the four days. My room was on the sixth floor, facing a building about three metres away, so people opposite could see straight into the window and I couldn’t open the curtains. The room was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned properly; there was hair and old napkins left in it.

It’s affordable, and Metro Line 8 is about a five-minute walk away. In a big city, you mostly get what you pay for. There are lots of small places to eat in nearby buildings, and a Family Mart open 24 hours is close by, like a 7-Eleven.
