Lake Malaren International Convention Center Hotel

Meilan Lake is right by the hotel, so it’s a nice spot for a walk. There are European-style buildings and restaurants around the area, plus a McDonald’s and Starbucks where families linger over meals. Cross the bridge to the left from the main entrance and you’ll find Century Supermarket, handy for picking up food. The facilities look a little old but seem clean. I spotted mosquitoes while trying to sleep, then found a blue mosquito mat and fumigator, which came in handy. The pool is run separately and hotel guests can’t use it. Breakfast doesn’t have much variety, though it’s a decent meal: porridge, soy milk, Chinese bread, coffee, juice, fruit, sausage, bacon, and other breads. There’s a fried egg station, but no noodle station. There are lots of conference rooms, and it seems local events take place on weekends.

The views around Meilan Lake are really lovely.

Downtown is much too far away.
