Mercer Resort Hotel (Shanghai International Resort)

The bed was very comfortable, and getting to the airport was easy. The front desk clerk went over several transport options and even booked a taxi for us. There’s a small Lawsons across the street, with a nearby KFC too. Shanghai Disneyland and PVG airport are both a short taxi ride away.

The location worked well for Disneyland, and there’s a scheduled shuttle bus. There’s also one near the airport, though it leaves you quite far from the check-in area. The room was nice and everything else was good, but the air conditioner stayed on and couldn’t be adjusted. Housekeeping said the cooling system was broken, so they brought me a fan. Luckily, it was cold. I took off a star because communication was a little difficult. If I misunderstood how the air conditioner worked or the cold weather outside, I’m sorry.

The room was spacious and had good facilities. I also liked the breakfast, and the location and shuttle bus were great.

The front desk staff were really friendly, but the rest of the stay was disappointing. Breakfast was terrible: the fruit and salad platters all had to share one small pair of tongs, and there weren't any coffee cups. When I asked, staff told me to use a glass, though I wondered whether those were safe for hot drinks. I stayed a month earlier, just after the room had opened, and the standards don't seem to have been maintained. There were bugs too, a small one I swatted on the bed and a larger one in the bathroom that I was too tired to inspect.
