The rooms are tiny, but very clean, and I liked that the whole hotel is non-smoking. The reception staff are friendly, though they barely speak English. Translation apps help. Finding the entrance took some searching. The Mercure is tucked inside one of the Hongqiao developments, and at night the area is dark and empty. Taxi drivers may need to look around too, and you have to spot the sign from the main road. Breakfast was below average for both variety and space. In the morning rush, the dining area gets cramped, with only a few tables and chairs. The food is mostly local, but descriptions are provided in Chinese and English.

It's a very clean hotel, and the staff try to communicate in English using a translator machine. It works well. The Hongqiao travel complex is about a five-minute drive away. The hotel is a bit tucked inside, and Google Maps doesn't pinpoint it accurately, but taxi drivers know where it is.

The hotel is nice, decent, and quiet. It took me a while to find it the first time, but I got there eventually. It's about 1.2 km from the main railway station, metro, and airport. Breakfast has a good variety, though they should label it in English too.

The rooms were adequate, and the front desk was really helpful. It's very close to Hongqiao airport. The elevator smelled like old beer late at night, but the smell was gone by morning.

The room change saved this from being a one-star stay: they moved me to a higher-standard room. Before that, though, I checked in quite late and found the fridge and internet weren't working. Nobody spoke English, so they used a translator app, and all those problems left me pretty angry. It was a kind of traumatic experience 😣
