The view from the 9th floor is lovely, and the location puts you close to everything. I booked mainly for the location, then was pleasantly surprised at check-in: the place was very clean and the reception staff were warm and helpful. Since I’m a foreigner, they even helped me order food through a Chinese app at night. Each bed has a safe, and there’s a shared area with a projector, plus a microwave, water, and a washing machine. They provide slippers, towels, toothbrushes, and shower gel too. It had basically everything you’d expect in a hotel. Best hostel I’ve stayed in.

The staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. Yuyuan Garden is a 5-minute walk away, the Bund is 10 minutes away, and there are plenty of subway stations around. It’s a cheap, clean, convenient place to stay in Shanghai, close to everything. 5/5 ⭐️

I booked several nights here, but arrived really early and had to wait for check-in. In the common area, there were leftovers from the night before and nobody seemed to care. The bathroom was the dirtiest I saw in all of China, and it was still in the same condition at 1 p.m. That was enough for me to find another hostel and move to Dayin near People's Square. They take responsibility there and keep things clean.
