No.1 Youth Hostel (The Bund Nanjing East Road Branch)

The only real plus is that it’s close to Nanjing East Road. The place is hard to find and on the 6th floor, and there are no towels, so bring your own. I booked a six-person room for two nights. The five other Chinese guests smoked in the room, even though signs say no smoking indoors or in shared areas. I don’t smoke, so what did I do wrong? The staff didn’t stop them, which made the place seem like a mess. The toilet and shower share one space, with a squat toilet, and you have to flush the shower water down it. There’s no ventilation and the water doesn’t drain well. I have no plans to visit again.
