Q-Box Hotel Shanghai Sanjiagang

I only used the hotel for five hours because a typhoon delayed all the flights. The hotel was clean. The receptionist didn't speak English, but her smile and hospitality were wonderful, and she made an effort to explain things with a translation app on her phone.

This feels like a stopover hotel, far from everything except the airport. We could hear planes taking off and landing from our room. There's no restaurant for lunch or dinner, only breakfast. They do have a shuttle to a nearby hotel with a restaurant.

I stayed here because my flight was delayed. The room was spacious, modern and definitely better than most European hotel rooms, and the bed was nicely made. But the carpet was awful, both on the floor and in the room, and I wouldn't want to walk on it barefoot. There was pubic hair in the toilet. Service wasn't available because the hotel has 600+ rooms and very few staff. I think they tried their best, but with so few people there was no service. That's different from poor service, though.

The food was fine for me as a tourist, and the service was really good. Given how close it is to the airport, I think this hotel deserves a higher rating.
